Please help me help you. Everyone freely admits that Medicare’s reimbursement for medical care is pitiful. Nationwide, docs are either dropping out of Medicare or selling their practices to corporate America. Keeping my doors open is not easy.
So how can you help? One thing Medicare pays for is the flu shot. Everyone is selling flu shots. Just look at my parking lot! Osco has flu shots placards everywhere. So, what’s the big deal?
The big deal is:
- The flu shot is part of your preventative care and should be given by your doc and recorded in your personal medical record.
- The flu shot visit represents a chance to discuss other preventative measures, such as the need to update your tetanus shot or pneumonia shot.
- The flu shot visit is a chance to uncover an elevated blood pressure or other hidden disease.
- The flu shot visit represents much needed revenue for a small independent medical practice.
There are many other reasons to shop for health at your doctor’s office and not at your local grocer or pharmacy. Support your private M.D. or risk losing him.
