Yes, I’m back. Sorry for my absence. Hope you didn’t miss me too much. Life has been good. I have a new grandson in Georgia and a new son (in-law) in Cary. My blog also has a new home so spread the word to your friends that, once again, www.livewellthy.org is up and running.
Now for today’s article. I’ve finally figured out how to explain the role of fat cells to my patients. Fat cells are the equivalent of our government. Fat cells tax your back and knees, soak up your precious insulin reserves increasing your risk of diabetes and, in general, give nothing back in return.
Like big government, the more fat cells you have, the greater the tax burden you suffer. Unlike big government, you can do something about your fat taxes. You can improve your diet and increase your exercise until that layer of fat that is enveloping your waist starts to shrink away.
Wouldn’t be nice if diet and exercise would shrink your income tax bill? No such luck! However, avoiding the expense of diabetes, knee replacements or back surgery will leave you with more money to pay Uncle Sam as he engorges himself on your hard earned income.
Learn to live “Wellthy” and not being wealthy will not hurt as much!
